Ridgeview Retirement Village to host fête for the fist time since Covid-19

Methodist Home’s Ridgeview Retirement Village will this year hold its annual fête for the first time since the start of Covid-19.

The village has been hosting its fête in October for about 15 years. It is a fun-filled day with stalls, a tea garden and a performance from the St Dominic’s Catholic School for Girls band, amongst other things. However, the last two years’ events had to be cancelled because of the pandemic.

According to Ridgeview Retirement Village manager Julie Koster, the residents of the retirement village are thrilled about being able to hold a fête.

“The fête is held for the residents so they can raise funds to do something that will improve their living space. For example, one year they used the funds for a rose garden.

“They also sell their handmade items, like knitting and crafts, at the stalls. It makes them proud to see what they have achieved,” she said.

Koster explained the residents raise about R40 000 to R45 000 at a fête.

Keep an eye out in the Boksburg Advertiser for the exact date of the event.

She urged the community, schools and bands to support the event.
