CBC marks its 87 years of teaching ethical values

Management reflected on the school’s past achievements and future plans.

Christian Brothers’ College (CBC) Boksburg marked an important milestone on its journey of providing education and nurturing learners to become ethical community members and responsible global citizens.

The independent all-boys school, which continues to deliver excellent academic performance, celebrated its 87th anniversary on February 5 with a string of activities.
Regardless of the rainy weather experienced on the day, the function was well-executed and turned into a wonderful celebration across the college, after the day began with a celebratory Mass with Fr Jeff.

To celebrate their milestone, the learners also enjoyed the day learning about the history of the college, as well as planned scavenger hunts, games and ice cream.

The history of CBC dates back to February 1935 when it started under the leadership of Br JJ Mullan. What began with the enrolment of 66 learners for the then grades five to eight, has over the years evolved and expanded to include grades 000 (age three) to matric, with over 600 learners.

Now under new management, with Darren Flood at the helm as the headmaster, the college has set its sights on the future.
Flood reflected on the school’s past achievements and plans.

Speaking about the college, Flood said: “CBC Boksburg is a place to call home, where we are constantly deepening the faith of boys and staff by improving the holistic wellness of every individual a providing an innovative and learner-centred curriculum across all grades; to mould each learner to be a good custodian of the college, ethical community member and a responsible global citizen who can thrive in the global space.”

According to the school management, the college holds a rich heritage of catholic ethos that continue to strive to make a difference in the community.

As part of the Edmund Rice Education network that comprises over 270 schools worldwide, CBC Boksburg is committed to upholding the teachings of Jesus and the Gospel values in global solidarity to be a part of transformational education.
The facility also boasts a wellness centre, offering one-on-one remedial help, therapy, music and art workshops with yellow piano, which is open to the public.
