Another burnt body discovered in Windmill Park

“We want the police to find the killer(s) so we get closure as a family.”

Forty-five-year-old Oupa Dimaza’s body was discovered burnt in the veld next to Windmill Park Estate on February 21 by a passerby who notified the Dawn Park police and community members.

According to the Dawn Park police spokesperson Const Nkemeleng Mabula, smoke was still coming out of Oupa’s body when the police arrived on scene at 10:30.

“He was discovered burnt but his black Nike sneakers, brown shirt and black jeans were still visible. A murder case has been opened at the Dawn Park Police Station.

“The cause of his death is unknown, but we are investigating. We are pleading with anyone with any information about the death of this man to contact us on 011 862 800 or 10111.”

Thabo Dimaza, the brother of the deceased, said he is pained by the horrendous death of his brother and hopes the killer(s) will be found.

“My brother was a humble guy who never fought with anyone. He loved people and was a breadwinner. He was a builder by profession and used to employ me and other people in our area.

“I last saw him on February 20 in the morning and he was in a good mood.

“The last people who saw my brother are my younger brother, his girlfriend and friends at 01:00 at a tavern on February 21. He told them he was heading home. His body was discovered that morning.

“Most of us are not working, as he was the breadwinner. So we need help with his burial. We are pleading with people to help us with food, chairs and transport. If you can help, you can call me on 071 216 8043,” said Thabo.

The Ward 99 councillor of Windmill Park, Andile Daemane, said it is distressing for him to see dead bodies discovered in his ward, and he is devising a plan to stop these horrendous crimes as the new councillor of the area.

“I have approached the Dawn Park police to work with me so we can combat crime collaboratively. I want us to revive the CPF in my area.

“The CPF has collapsed in our area. It’s been a long time now and that is causing a lot of problems for us as community members of Windmill Park. The Dawn Park SAPS cannot fight crime in our area without any assistance. It is overstretched and we know that, but we have to assist it to combat crime,” said Daemane.

Community members of Windmill Park are pleading with the Dawn Park police to patrol the area.
