Primary school gets a library

Education is the most important weapon to change lives.

Hyundai and Imperial Motus Community Trust recently officially handed over a new library they built to Windmill Park Primary School.

The principal, teachers and learners were excited to have the library open, which is a resource centre, computer centre, book room with tables and portable couches and two study rooms.
Teachers are undergoing training on how to effectively use the new facility.

During the handover ceremony, principal Oscar Lekoane said he is thrilled as the library will play a central role in educating and informing learners.

“I would like to thank Hyundai and Imperial Motus Community Trust for building this essential facility at our school. It will play an important role in helping our learners to be knowledgeable about their curriculum.

“This library will surely stimulate our learners’ brains and make them confident, but it is our responsibility to look after it.
“It is not only our responsibility as a school to look after this facility. The community of Windmill Park must also take the necessary steps to look after this facility.

“The facility must be kept intact at all times,” Lekoane said.
According to the CEO of Hyundai, Niall Lynch, this is the 11th library they have built at primary schools in Gauteng.
“We want to encourage learners to adopt a reading culture at a young age. I believe the future will be brighter and better if we have learners who practise reading at a young age, especially at primary school level.

“If the learners can learn how to read at primary school level that will enable them to comprehend everything they will be taught at high school level,” Lynch said.

The MD of Hyundai, Samuel Matlhola, said he hopes the library will be used to its full potential by learners and teachers.

“Education is the most important weapon to change lives. I started reading at a young age and it changed my life, so I believe this library will have the same impact and change a young person’s life,” Matlhola said.
