Boksburg schools improve matric pass rate

Matriculants believe they could've done better.

Three schools impressively improved their matric pass rate: Boksburg High School, Windmill Park High School and Sunward Park High School.

The overall pass rate percentages of the schools are: Boksburg High, 97.70% compared to 96.78% in 2020, Windmill Park High 79.77% compared to 60.4% in 2020, and Sunward Park High 97.1% compared to 93.9%.
Some matric learners of the 2021 class performed exceedingly well.

Ruhan Somera from Sunward Park High obtained eight distinctions for accounting (94%), life science (95%), physical sciences (96%), religion studies (93%), life orientation (93%), mathematics (97%), Afrikaans (93%) and English (85%).

Somera said: “I didn’t expect to get so many distinctions because we were affected by Covid-19; however, it is a pleasant surprise. I want to pursue an actuarial science course.”
Another matriculant of Sunward Park High, Njabulo Gongotha, attained seven distinctions. He said he is proud of himself, although he wanted to get more distinctions.

“I attained 89% in Isizulu home language, 91% in mathematics, 91% in life orientation, 88% in accounting, 86% in life science, 90% in physical sciences and 84% in religious studies,” said Gongotha.

Other learners from Sunward Park High who faired well were Lelethu Futsane (six distinctions), Tshepo Phoshoko (six distinctions), Sandisiwe Mtintshilana (five distinctions), Katleho Mambana (five distinctions), Matshepo Kekana (five distinctions) and Mthokozisi Mkhatshwa (five distinctions).

A learner from Windmill Park High, Sabelo Machiga, managed to get five distinctions.
Four leaners from Boksburg High also did well. Paige Diliyannis and Bohlale Mahlare obtained six distinctions, while Nikwa Ceza and Prince-Mercy Habtemariam attained five distinctions.
