The community of Windmill is reeling from shock following the grisly discovery of two female bodies near the Rooikraal dumpsite yesterday (January 3).
The bodies were discovered by passers-bys, who notified the police.
According to police spokesperson Capt Mavela Masondo, the two deceased are in their late 30’s and their bodies were found in a state of decomposition.
“The police have opened inquest dockets and are awaiting postmortem results to determine the cause of death,” said Masondo.
Community members in the area have condemned the killings saying it’s not the first time bodies have been discovered in this veld area.
Resident Sibongile Thusi said in efforts to end these crimes community members have tried to occupy vacant pieces of land in the area but their plans were fruitless.
“Due to the lack of police presence criminals are continuing to carry out their activities unabated,” said Thusi.
Anyone with information that can assist the police with their investigation is urged to contact the police on 08600 10111.
