We dash to help SPCA

The Advertiser was invited to do a trolley dash at West Pack Lifestyle, East Rand Value Mall, on December 16.

The Advertiser was invited to do a trolley dash at West Pack Lifestyle, East Rand Value Mall, on December 16, and the items we got into the trolley in 60 seconds were donated to Boksburg SPCA.

Inspector Denise Govender of the SPCA and West Pack’s Roxzanne van Eyk visited our offices in Sydney Road, Ravenswood, on December 22 to hand the goodies over.

Thanks to Tayla Smit, the Advertiser’s nimble and fast trolley dasher, we secured nearly R2 000 worth of cleaning and other products for the SPCA.

Denise thanked West Pack and the Advertiser, saying it is the busiest time of the year for the SPCA and donations of any kind are always welcome to help ease the burden of the increased confiscations, abandonment and cruelty complaints they deal with.

She added that she is over the moon to have recently qualified as an inspector.

“I worked very hard this year and prayed I would make it. I am thrilled to have passed my inspector exam,” she said.

The public is reminded the SPCA Christmas Cheer Fund runs until the end of January.

The society wants to raise R100 000 this year and is almost at the halfway mark.

To donate, contact the SPCA on 011 916 5906, follow them on Facebook (Boksburg SPCA New Facebook Page) and don’t forget to support their charity shop, on the premises in Railway Street, by donating items for sale or coming to do your Christmas shopping!
