Metro teams out in force to tackle long grass

The metro wants the public to enjoy the City's green spaces this festive season.

The City of Ekurhuleni officials are cutting overgrown grass that has resulted from the heavy rains experienced in Ekurhuleni in recent weeks.

According to metro spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the department responsible for parks in the City has channelled its resources towards grass-cutting to avoid overgrown grass, especially during the festive season when most people would want to enjoy the beauty of public spaces.

“Grass-cutting is done to avoid sheltering snakes, rats, mice and concealing litter and debris, among others. Overgrown grass also provides hiding places for criminals,” explained Dlamini.

Motorists and pedestrians are cautioned to be on the lookout for officials who are cutting grass on some of the roads and parks in the city.
