Girl Guides going strong amid pandemic

As a result of the Covid-19 lockdown, the organisation was forced to do things differently.

While the past year has been challenging for Girl Guides due to the pandemic, they’ve managed to remain creative and resilient.

The NPO, which empowers girls and women to reach their full potential and become responsible citizens through a dynamic programme, is still going strong.

According to Colleen Walker, of Girl Guides, the organisation had to come up with creative ways to sustain the interest in guiding and encouraging their girls going forward.

“We were able to meet virtually with most of our girls during the lockdown and even held a virtual camp, which was enjoyed by all,” she said.

” Girl Guides is a wonderful platform for young girls to learn skills through adventurous, exciting activities, making friends and having loads of fun.”

Members who are aged between four and 14 meet on Monday from 17:30 to 19:00 at the Guide Hall, in Southvale Road, Parkdene.

The organisation also arranges different activities over weekends, like hikes, day camps and visiting places of interest, which the girls and their families enjoy.

If you would like your girl child to join the movement, contact Walker on 082 372 6582.
