Boksburg Child Welfare extends its services

Some of the services Boksburg Child Welfare will render include HIV and Aids-prevention programmes.

Boksburg Child Welfare is extending its services with a new project, Asibavikele home-based care Villa Liza, aimed at helping vulnerable beneficiaries from Villa Liza and Rondebult infected with and affected by HIV/Aids.

According to Vanessa Naidoo-Pillay, director of the Boksburg Child Welfare, some of the services they will render include HIV and Aids-prevention programmes, support for orphaned and vulnerable children, youth-headed families and the elderly.

“We’re excited that we’ll now be able to explore and assist more community members from Villa Liza and Rondebult. Through this project, we want to raise awareness and educate people about HIV/Aids. We also want to hand out food parcels in the communities.
“Asibavikele home-based care Villa Liza is funded by the Department of Social Development. The department decided to put this project, previously called the Villa Liza support group, under our wing as we’re familiar with the community.

“It’s quite a big project where 31 staff members will be involved, including a project manager and three social auxiliary workers. We have secured a facility at a church in Villa Liza where some staff members involved with the project can work from.

“We’re also going to temporarily use the Keep Me Safe House as an administration office for the project. We’re still struggling to find a sponsor that can help us to get the safe house again,” said Naidoo-Pillay.
The director explained they hope to assist about 6 000 community members in a financial year through this project.

Naidoo-Pillay stressed the organisation still needs donations in the form of funds, food, clothing, shoes and school items.
If you can assist the organisation in any way, contact 011 039 4679/011 074 5028 or send an email to Naidoo-Pillay at director1bcw@gmail.com
