Enter Mr and Miss St Francis Africa beauty pageant

All funds raised through the pageant will go towards the St Francis Care Centre.

The St Francis Care Centre is inviting community members from Ekurhuleni and surrounding areas to enter its 2021/22 Mr and Miss St Francis Care Centre Africa beauty pageant.

The pageant is aimed at raising funds for the care centre.

If you think you have what takes to win the crown, download entry forms from www.stfranciscarecentre.co.za and submit your entry via email to development@stfranciscarecentre.co.za

Entry fees are R100 and all entries must be submitted by September 20.

Categories of the competition include Mr and Miss St Francis Care Centre Africa Junior (ages between five and 11), Mr and Miss St Francis Care Centre Africa Teen (ages between 12 and 17) and Mr and Miss St Francis Africa Senior (ages between 18 and 29 years).

The pageant is scheduled to take place at the centre on October 18 at 10:00.

“The competition is earmarked as part of our integrated strategy to raise money on our own as a centre to channel it back to the healthcare services offered to our beneficiaries. The short- to long-term financial stability of St Francis heavily relies on exploring alternative fund-raising plans to secure our financial future in case any of our donors terminate financial support to our centre.

“Covid-19 had a devastating impact on St Francis, as the number of regular donations declined significantly. Individuals were housebound and many either lost their jobs or their salaries were reduced. Outreach fund-raising initiatives such as contacting corporates also proved to be fruitless due to the negative effects the pandemic had on the economy,” said James Matli, St Francis Care Centre fund-raiser.

St Francis Care Centre is a registered NPO that caters to dozens of vulnerable children and adults, most of them suffering from threatening and/or life-limiting conditions.
