Support Boksburg SPCA’s Mandela Month sterilisation campaign

The Boksburg SPCA is appealing to the community and businesses, in particular, to support its Mandela Month sterilisation campaign.

According to Vicky Finnemore, manager of the Boksburg SPCA, the campaign will assist families without the financial resources to sterilise their dogs and cats.

“Our target is to sterilise 250 animals from the community, 67 of which will be from our outreach programme at no cost.

“Furthermore, the balance of the sterilisation will be heavily subsidised for Sassa pensioners and families with an income of less than R15 000 per month,” Finnemore said.

Finnemore stressed with adjusted level four of the lockdown, many individuals and businesses will not be able to do their traditional Mandela Month donation of goods or time.

“Therefore, Boksburg SPCA would love your virtual contribution towards our sterilisation campaign.
“By donating R670 (includes sterilisation, tick and flea treatment, deworming, pet food parcel and a blanket) towards the initiative, you will be making a huge difference in the life of the animal whose sterilisation you sponsor. All donations qualify for an S18A Tax Certificate. Be wise, help us sterilise.

“Every year thousands of unwanted dogs and cats, including puppies and kittens, are needlessly destroyed. Pet owners can help prevent this by having their dogs and cats sterilised by a vet. Other benefits of sterilisation include improved long-term health, prevention of unwanted litters and elimination of many behavioural problems associated with the mating instinct,” she added.
