Mia on her way to recovery following operation

Mia's parents described her as a loving girl with a strong personality.

Freeway Park’s Mia Nordeje, who has a craniofacial deformity, is recovering well after undergoing a fat-grafting operation.

Mia was born without cheekbones and has no proper structure under her eyes to protect them,
The six-year-old urgently needed the operation because there is a risk that the lower eyelids can pop inside out and expose the eyes.

Mia’s parents, Dessri and Eddie Nordeje, initiated several fund-raisers and managed to raise enough money for her operation.

The little girl went under the knife at Sunninghill Hospital on May 24 and is now doing well.

“Mia’s face is still a bit bruised and swollen, but she is looking beautiful. She’s also healthy and energetic.

“We’re going to monitor her, and in about two months we’ll know what the next step is going to be. The doctor did, however, inform us that she might need another fat-grafting operation,” Dessri explained.

Dessri and Eddie expressed their gratitude to those who supported them.

The parents stressed they are still in need of funds to pay for Mia’s medical bills.

Furthermore, they started a Back-a-Buddy page to raise funds, https://www.backabuddy.co.za/mia-nordeje
