Kuselo benefits from the Winter Wool Drive

Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services and other organisations have benefitted from the Advertiser’s Winter Wool Drive.

All thanks to the Advertiser’s annual Winter Wool Drive, children at Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services will keep warm this winter after they received a wonderful donation of knitted baby jerseys, beanies, booties, blankets and teddy bears.

The donated items were handed over to the organisation on May 31.

This donation wouldn’t have been possible without the generous help of Sunward Park resident, Jill Green, who dropped off knitted garments and blankets at the Advertiser’s offices last week.

Expressing gratitude for the donation received, Amanda Coetzee, the founder of Kuselo, said they were grateful for being the beneficiaries of such a wonderful project.

“These warm hand-knitted items, which have been made with love, will come in handy because it’s now winter,” Coetzee said.

The drive remains open for donations of wool, knitting needles and knitted items until the end of August.

All donations of wool and knitting needles will go to old-age homes and other community members interested in knitting squares, which can be sewn into blankets or knit beanies, gloves, scarves and the like for distribution to those in need this winter.

Organisations with social knitting circles who would like to knit squares or anyone wanting more information can email Elize Kluyts at elizek@caxton.co.za
