Bikers collect much-needed items for charity

The group supports a suitable charity every two months as part of its charity drive, which has been ongoing for years.

Harley-Davidson Gold Rand, in conjunction with H.O.G Gold Rand Chapter, recently opened their hearts to Igugulethu Place of Safety in Boksburg North and The Almond Tree in Benoni.

Bikers dropped of necessities like blankets, toothpaste, nappies, baked beans, pasta and rice at the Harley-Davidson Gold Rand dealership throughout April and the items were then handed over to the organisations.

According to Martin Pelser, H.O.G Harley Owners’ Group assistant director, they decided to organise a charity drive as they want to continue to make a difference in the community.

“The Harley Owners’ Group is committed to assisting those in need. It’s now an important time to give as the lockdown had a negative impact on many people’s finances,” she said.

The bikers donated necessities, such as blankets, pasta, rice and toothpaste.

The group supports a suitable charity every two months as part of its charity drive, which has been ongoing for years.

“The support that we get from Harley Davidson Gold Rand is phenomenal because it enables us to help out in our community,” Pelser said.

Pelser thanked everybody who made contributions and supported the charity drive.

Zina Rotherham accepted the donation on behalf of The Almond Tree and expressed her gratitude to bikers for their support.

“We’re grateful when people do stuff like this as their contributions help us a lot. Their support is much appreciated,” Rotherham said.
