#WinterWoolDrive: Thank you for your continued support

The wool drive is an annual charity initiative for wool donations, which in turn is handed over to individuals and organisations to knit for the needy.

The Boksburg Advertiser’s 2021 Winter Wool Drive is gaining momentum and has seen dozens of donations pouring in from generous residents since it kicked off late last month.

Among the support is a donation by Martie Zwanevelder of Springs, who on April 30 dropped off over 70 teddy bears at one of our drop-off points, Bernina, at the Dubai Shopping Centre in Boksburg.

Zwanevelder made the children’s toys herself with the intent of selling them, but after becoming aware of this publication’s charity project, she changed her mind and decided to give to the needy children.
“Doing good deeds for others, especially needy children, makes me feel good,” said Zwanevelder.

Winter Wool Drive
The wool drive is an annual charity initiative for wool donations, which in turn is handed over to individuals and organisations to knit for the needy. The knitted garments include children’s scarves, beanies, gloves, blankets, jerseys and other clothing articles.
The completed handiwork is then distributed to various local charity organisations to benefit the underprivileged and our furry friends at SPCAs in winter.

“I want to thank all for your continued support with donations and taking time to knit for those who are less fortunate,” said project coordinator Elize Kluyts, advertising manager at the Advertiser.
