Substation explosion leaves parts of Jet Park and Ravensklip in the dark

Due to the extent of the damages, residents might have to wait a bit longer before their power is restored

The Ekurhuleni metro confirmed that residents of Jet Park and Ravensklip were left without power after thieves broke into a substation and stole cables.

According to metro spokesperson, Zweli Dlamini, intruders entered the property through the roof last night, and as a result of the vandalism, the switchgear panels caught fire. This caused damage to the utility equipment.
Dlamini pointed out that about 70 per cent of the area has been restored, and the rest will be restored when repairs are completed.

Due to the extent to which the power equipment has been damaged, officials could not offer an estimated power restoration time at the time of going to press.
