Rondebult Road in Comet is blocked off with burning tyres as residents of the area are protesting against poor service delivery.
The community reportedly started barricading the road in the early hours.
EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said officers are in the area to help monitor the situation.
Motorists are advised to avoid that area and use alternative routes.
