CBC matriculants thrilled after receiving IEB results
Despite a very challenging year, Christian Brothers’ College (CBC) maintained its track record of 100 per cent amid lockdown.
A total of 48 learners sat for the 2020 IEB matric examinations and 38 (80 per cent) of them passed with bachelor degree entrances, while 10 passed with diploma entrance.
Three learners from the school shined brightest as they bagged eight and seven distinctions, respectively.
Richard Jacobs received eight distinctions with an average of 92.5 per cent, followed by Angelos Arsalides with eight distinctions, average of 90.2 per cent. Abdullah Iqbal achieved seven distinctions with an average of 88 per cent.

The Advertiser visited the school on February 19 to find out from learners who came to collect their matric results how they felt.
Jaden Ham said: “The year was very tough for me because I was someone who couldn’t study without a social setting, but when Covid-19 hit us I had to adapt to studying online. I am incredibly happy about my results.”
Ham will study mechanical engineering at the University of Pretoria.
Another learner, Richard Jacobs, said he is happy that all his hard work, the sacrifices and sleepless nights to get good grades has paid off. He will also be studying mechanical engineering at the University of Pretoria.
The school held a brief congratulatory ceremony where nine top learners were honoured by the school’s headmaster, Jim Connell. The former matric learners were each given folders which had a personalised message from the college to commemorate the school’s 85th birthday.
Woodlands International College
Woodlands International College’s class of 2020 achieved a 100 per cent pass rate with 92 per cent of the learners reaching the necessary results to undertake a bachelors degree.
A total of 75 distinctions were achieved by the 53 candidates with the highest achievers, Shae-Lynn Henderson and Anastacia Argyrou, achieving six distinctions each.
“Woodlands’s class of 2020, like Grade 12 learners country wide, faced some stern challenges on their way to completing their high school careers. The college is proud to announce that our learners achieved a truly outstanding set of results and would like to congratulate each learner on this remarkable milestone in their lives.
“Once again, we extend our most profound congratulations and thanks to each matriculant and their families on this outstanding set of results as well as to our senior college staff for their invaluable contribution,” said May Alli, principal of the senior college.
The college’s top achievers obtained the following results:
Anastasia Argyrou (six): English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics. life sciences and visual arts.
Shae-Lynn Henderson (six): English, Afrikaans, life orientation, mathematics, life sciences and history.
Lesoko Monyepao (five): English, life orientation, business studies, geography and life sciences.
Nicole Taute (five): Afrikaans, Life Orientation, mathematics, accounting and life sciences.
Daniella Dos Santos (four): English, life orientation, history, and visual arts.
Tomas Schreuder (four): English, mathematics, physical sciences and information technology.
Sunward Park Christian Academy
Sunward Christian Academy maintained its perfect record of 100 per cent for their IEB matric results.
Last year the school also achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.
A total of nine learners sat for the 2020 IEB matric examinations with all of them passing with bachelor passes.
The school has congratulated its top three learners, Katlego Botolo, Merlane Muzawazi and Robynn Pick.
