Power Crisis: Boksburg residents subjected to daily power outages

The frustrated residents have threatened to take to the streets to vent their anger about poor service from the Energy department

Residents in several Boksburg suburbs are fed up with the resurgence of perpetual power outages in their areas.
Affected areas include Bardene, Beyers Park and Bartlett, where residents are forced to endure hours or day-long outages, apparently because of faulty power infrastructure.
The frustrated residents have threatened to take to the streets to vent their anger about poor service from the relevant departments. They are planning to hold a peaceful protest against the ongoing outages, which they said continuously plague their neighbourhoods.
According to a resident who asked to remain anonymous, protesters will gather at the corner of North Rand Road and Bartlett at 9am on Saturday.
“We have been subjected to daily five-hour power outages and our complaints are falling on deaf ears. The community has taken it upon itself to take action against the matter,” said the resident.
The metro has not yet commented on the matter.
