Kuselo in need of community’s support to purchase safe house

The organisation must raise an estimate amount of R 1.5-million before the end of year to buy the safe house

Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services is appealing to the community to help them purchase its Heaven Sent safe house in Boksburg North.
According to the founder of Kuselo, Amanda Coetzee, the owner of the property, which is used as a safe house for abused and neglected children, is giving the organisation the opportunity to purchase the house.
Coetzee said in order to buy the property, Kuselo will have to raise an estimate amount of R1.5-million before the end of the year.
“The amount includes the purchase of the premises and all other fees incurred, as well as much needed renovations.
“The purchase amount of R800 000 for the property is only valid for 12 months,” she explained.
Coetzee said it would be beneficial for the organisation to purchase the property.

“This means we wouldn’t have to pay rent every month, which will help us a lot. It’s becoming more difficult to scrape money together for rent. People don’t always know what it entails to run a safe house.
“We’re looking after 18 children, and there are expenses that we need pay. It is basically the costs of a normal household times 18.

“Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we also don’t receive as much donations as we used to. People don’t just come to the safe house to deliver necessities anymore.
“We also want to buy the house because some of our sponsors are assisting us with renovations,” she said.
She said the organisation would appreciate it if the community could make donations towards the purchasing of the safe house.
“No donation is too small. It will even help us if people can donate R100 a month,” she added.
