Boksburg SPCA receives welcome donation

Makopano Risk Solutions, in association with Hungry Hound Boksburg, recently donated about 400kg of dog food to the Boksburg SPCA.
The companies donated 10 bags of dog food, tinned food, and Makopano made a monetary contribution of R1 000.
According to Makopano’s armed response manager, Gustav Holl, the security company decided to assist the local SPCA after seeing the society’s appeal on social media.
“We wanted to help after seeing that the local SPCA is in need the public’s support after confiscating more than 70 dogs and cats from a breeder,” said Gustav.
Vicky Finnemore, manager of the Boksburg SPCA, expressed her gratitude to the donors.
“We would like to thank the companies for their their efforts. Their donation is going to help us a lot,” said Vicky.
The Advertiser previously reported the Boksburg SPCA has taken in over 70 more animals following the removal of dogs and cats in a severe state of neglect from a former breeder in Boksburg on November 19.
Finnemore said they reacted to a complaint of many dogs being kept in confined and filthy conditions. At the house they found over 70 dogs and cats, including pedigree Yorkshire terriers and Sphynx cats, living in deplorable conditions.
The SPCA is now appealing to the public to help with monetary donations to rehabilitate the animals, who will all receive veterinary care and some will need special food.
What is needed/how to donate:
• Good quality tinned dog food\cooked chicken and rice and sensitive cat food.
Those wanting to donate towards the cats can use “Sphynx” as a reference and those wanting to donate towards the dogs can use “Yorkie” as a reference.
