AfriForum and community members clean Chris Smith Park

AfriForum’s next clean-up session will take place in Van Dyk Park on November 21

Members of the local AfriForum and residents recently took it upon themselves to clean up the Chris Smith Park in Morganridge on November 7.

From as early as 9.30am, the team started to pick up litter and trim the edges of grass at the park.

According to Francois Reyneke, vice-chairperson of AfriForum Boksburg, the organisation decided to clean the park because they want children and families to enjoy it during the summer and holiday season.

“Our children need a safe place to play and enjoy the outdoors. Hence, we initiated a clean-up and made sure there isn’t broken glass or hazardous items lying on the park’s grass,” Francois said.

Reyneke highlighted that the local AfriForum branch is planning more clean-up sessions in Boksburg and invited community members to be part of it.

The next clean-up session will take place in Van Dyk Park on November 21.
