Their tow truck was also confiscated for further investigation

Members from the Ekurhuleni Crime Intelligence Unit and Crime Prevention officers arrested two men on October 26 after they allegedly attempted to steal a Mercedes-Benz under the pretense that they worked for the motor manufacturer.

According to the police, the men arrived at the female complainant’s house in Leith Road, Bartlett, on October 26 in a tow truck, alleging that they were technicians working for a Mercedes-Benz branch in Midrand.

“The men claimed that were asked to tow her car to the dealership in Midrand because it was reported that it had mechanical problems. The woman insisted that her car should be taken to Mercedes-Benz Boksburg,” said Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube.

The woman became suspicious and decided to phone the police.

Police arrived and questioned the men who were unable to provide a clear explanation.

The pair were arrested and the tow truck confiscated. They were scheduled to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.
