Five arrested as Senzo Meyiwa case continues

The former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates captain Senzo Meyiwa died six years ago after being shot dead in Vosloorus

Five suspects were arrested on Monday morning (October 26) in connection with the murder of former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa.
This was announced by SAPS Minister Bheki Cele during a national briefing in Pretoria with national police commissioner Gen Khehla Sitole.

Meyiwa died exactly six years ago on this day after being shot dead in Vosloorus.
According to the minister the arrests were made in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal between 8am and 10am and the police, along with the NPA, have a strong case against the five suspects.
Sitole added that one of the five is believed to be the one who pulled the trigger.

According to the police, the arrests are as a result of a multi-disciplinary integrated approach to the investigation, which is working closely with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
The police added that more arrests are a strong possibility.
Three of the suspects arrested were not in the house when Meyiwa was murdered.
