Ward 43 councillor Bruce Reid (52) died this morning (October 20).
Reid, who hails from KwaZulu-Natal, joined the DA in 2009 and in 2011 was elected into council and served as a councillor in the DA Ekurhuleni Caucus since. He also served as shadow MMC of Finance since 2016.
“It is with a heavy heart that the DA in Gauteng has to bid farewell to Ekurhuleni councillor Bruce Reid.
“The DA sends our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of councillor Reid, and we wish them all the strength they need in their time of mourning,” said MPL Solly Msimanga, DA Gauteng interim leader.
The organisation described Reid as a person who was passionate about local government issues and served the DA and residents of Ekurhuleni with distinction.
