Brenda Diamonds: "I am a beneficiary of the R350 social relief grant and I can testify that the money was of great help. Every month I use it to buy groceries. I hope government will reconsider their decision and extend it beyond October."

The R350 social relief of distress grant is set to end this October. We asked locals if they thought government should extend it beyond October or not?

Samantha Roelfse: “Yes, definitely. We would like the R350 social relief grants to be extended beyond October because it has been a lifeline for many unemployed people.”

Rochelle Jacks: “It is important for government to extend it for the next five years until young people have jobs.”

Ian Lee: “I think government should continue dishing out the R350 because it assisted us in terms of buying groceries and paying for our children's school fees.”

Estel Hans: “We are relying on the social relief distress payment because it really closed the gap of not having an income. I pay my policies and groceries with it.”
