Keylock qualifies for SA Short Course

Kian qualifies for SA Short Course in style

CBC Boksburg swimming star Kian Keylock has continued where he left off in the pool, following the lockdown.

Keylock has been selected to participate at the South African National Short Course gala taking place in Pietermaritzburg between October 24 and 27, courtesy of some stellar performances during the recently held nationwide qualifiers for the upcoming gala.

Just before the abrupt disruption of the pandemic, Keylock blitzed to a finishing time of 30:24 seconds to set a new South African u-14 boys 50m breaststroke record at the Grand Prix Invitational Swimming Meet hosted in Durban.

The CBC Boksburg star broke the old record of 30:37 set in 2016 by Joshua Hamilton.

It was a result which rendered him as the 50m and 100m breaststroke national record holder for u-14 boys.

The Pietermaritzburg qualifiers were divided according to districts and with all performances and times considered, Keylock finished fourth overall in the country under the senior age group.

During stricter regulations of the lockdown earlier this year, Keylock was included in the South African National Youth squad for the upcoming 2020/21 swimming season.

The CBC Boksburg learner is the only swimmer selected from Ekurhuleni for the 48-member squad.

Selection for the group is earned by being ranked in the top three swimmers in the country in your age group. Keylock was recently named the top swimmer for his u-14 age group for the past season.

To maintain his swimming sharpness, the Boksburg Aquatic Saints star has been recently swimming in internal meets.
