Watch Master KG, Nomcebo grace Portuguese Forum’s food drive with Jerusalema

The Social Solidarity Food Drive, hosted by the Portuguese Forum of South Africa, united hundreds of people in the spirit of Ubuntu on September 6, in Parkhaven, Kempton Park.
The aim of the food drive was to bring the resources of the many Portuguese and other farmers, charity groups and the public together to bring Covid-19 food relief to thousands through government food banks and other channels.
The event was a drive-through drop-off for the public to support their favourite charity with donations.
It also saw the arrival of 55 trucks, from farmers and corporates, filled with food for 20 charity organisations nominated as beneficiaries.
Over 1 500 bikers from clubs all over Gauteng also united behind the drive and made an impressive show of arriving to drop-off their donations.
Government dignitaries at the food drive included MMC for Health and Social Development, Nomadlozi Nkosi, and former Premier of Gauteng, Paul Mashatile.
Also on the VIP list were the council general for Portugal, Francisco-Xavier de Meireles Manuel Carvalho, and the Portuguese Ambassador to South Africa and City of Tshwane, administrator Gilberto Martins.
President of the Portuguese Forum of South Africa, Manny Ferreirinha, highlighted how poverty can affect anyone and for that reason the forum and its partners came together to play their part in the fight against poverty.
He added that the charity organisations were invited to ensure all donations reach those who really need them.
After all the formalities were over, Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode performed their now world famous Jerusalema, which got young and old on their feet in stride to the trendy dance moves which accompany the lyrics.
The 200% Foundation, Benoni SPCA, The Salvation Army and Hospice East Rand were among the Benoni beneficiaries of the Social Solidarity Food Drive.
