Post a Can to help St Francis at Social Solidarity Food Drive

A group of friends initiated the Post a Can/Sandwich project to assist charity organisations during this difficult time by collecting food

Post a Can/Sandwich will participate in the Social Solidarity Food Drive on September 6 in hopes of collecting donations that will assist the St Francis Care Centre.

Natalina da Conceicao, one of the Post a Can/Sandwich volunteers, explained the Social Solidarity Food Drive is a Covid-19 compliant initiative hosted by the Portuguese Forum of South Africa and is a drive-through event.

Members of the public can drop off donations at the Post a Can/Sandwich tent on the day from 10.30am on the corner of Atlas Road and Silver Wings Boulevard, Parkhaven.

“We are truly grateful that we’ve been invited to participate in the food drive. It’s going to be completely safe as sponsors can remain in their vehicles while we collect the food. Our group of friends from Post a can/Sandwich decided that we will collect donations for the children and patients at the St Francis Care Centre.

“Items such as food (perishable and non-perishable), blankets and cleaning projects, toiletries and Covid-19 personal protection equipment (PPE) would be appreciated. We would grateful if people can come out to support us as success of this drive depends on it,” she said.

A group of friends initiated the Post a Can/Sandwich project to assist charity organisations during this difficult time by collecting food. The friends collect the donations at Superspar in Rietfontein Road every Saturday.
