New trouble for Tommy Gun as state adds three more charges

Oosthuizen will be back in the dock on August 3 to face the new charges.

Boksburg IBO champion “Tommy Gun” Oosthuizen appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court again yesterday (July 20) on a charge of assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was arrested in March after he allegedly, late last year, attacked the complainant at a pub after the man apparently made a joke directed at the boxer.

Ironically, Oosthuizen was arrested in connection with this incident at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court, where he was at the time appearing on a child maintenance matter. He has since been remanded in custody at Boksburg Correctional Services.

This is not the only legal battle the defamed sportsman is facing. Before he even made it into the courtroom yesterday morning, Oosthuizen was served with summonses as an accused in the holding cells to appear in court in 14 days time in connection with three further matters.

Oosthuizen will be back in the dock on August 3 to face the new charges. Although the Advertiser was unable to access the summonses, as these will only be enrolled on August 3, it would appear the new matters relate to previous incidents of assault.
