The Forgotten East Rand now a registered NPC

The organisation will continue to support people with essentials after lockdown but they do not offer financial support

Kuselo Child and Youth Care Services and Legendary Guardian Exclusive Protection are proud to announce that they have officially registered their The Forgotten East Rand upliftment programme as a Non-Profit Company (NPC).

The feeding scheme was established at the end of March with the aim of feeding and supporting underprivileged residents during lockdown.

They have since fed thousands of people in areas such as Boksburg North, Reiger Park, Villa Liza, Blue Sky informal settlement and Andries Scribante Haven, on a daily basis. Furthermore, they also donated food to the furry friends at PawsRehoming and other pets in need.

Co-founder of the initiative Amanda Coetzee said The Forgotten East Rand will still assist people in the community after lockdown is lifted.

Remember to support the work of The Forgotten East Rand

“We’re grateful to say that the The Forgotten initiative expanded so much that we decided to register it as an NPC. The directors are Brendon Mackintosh and Ebbiegail Kramm and they will manage the programme,” explained Amanda, who is also the founder of Kuselo.

She emphasised the organisation is determined to continue to make a difference in the community.

“People still need support despite the fact that many people returned to work now that we moved down to Level 3 of lockdown. They still have to work a month to earn a salary again and others lost their jobs. Therefore, we still want to help people and make a difference in the community. We want to focus on the forgotten people in our society like elderly people who are struggling to get their essentials. However, we don’t assist members of the public financially,” she added.

The organisation is in need of non-perishable foods, blankets, clothing and any other winter essentials that can help people to survive the cold weather. No contribution is too small.

Co-founder Clinton Festraets expressed his sincere gratitude towards all donors for their commitment and support towards feeding the less fortunate. “We thank everybody that supported us with the project. We really have an awesome community and we couldn’t have done it without their contribution.”
