Employer attacked by employee with hammer while driving

On closer observation she noticed a passenger in the backseat hitting the driver with something that looked like a hammer

Boksburg North police arrested a 32-year-old man for hitting his boss on the head with a claw hammer after having an argument over his pay.

The incident happened on June 9 along Pretoria Road at 7.45am. According to the witness, whose an EMPD warden, she was driving to work when she saw a white Ford vehicle driving in the opposite direction into oncoming traffic.

Boksburg North police spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said on closer observation she noticed a passenger in the backseat hitting the driver with something that looked like a hammer. The driver subsequently lost control of the vehicle but it managed to stop without causing an accident.

“When the eyewitness went to check on the motorists inside the Ford, she saw a man assaulting the victim with a claw hammer. When she asked what was going on, the victim said he had been hit with the hammer for a while by the 32-year-old man who works for him following an argument,” said Ramaube.

The eyewitness said the victim’s blood was splattered inside and outside the vehicle. She called the police and upon arrival the 32-year-old man was arrested.

“The suspect alleged to have been working for the victim since 2012 and every time he had to pay him they ended up arguing. He said on that day he got agitated and hit him with a claw hammer which they use in their line of work,”? Ramaube said.

The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment.The suspect has been charged with attempted murder and the claw hammer was confiscated and will be used as evidence in court.
