Solidarity Helping Hand’s Ons Winkel operational during level four lockdown

Shoppers may buy winter essentials, such as clothing (for all ages), shoes, blankets and towels

Solidarity Helping Hand Boksurg’s charity shop is officially open for business as per the lockdown level four regulations.

The organisation’s Ons Winkel, situated at 49 Main Street in Witfield, will be operating from 9am to 4.30pm on weekdays and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.

Shoppers may buy winter essentials, such as clothing (for all ages), shoes, blankets and towels .

The shop opened its doors on May 12 for the first time since the lockdown became a reality.

“We are extremely excited to be open and we’re ready to serve the community again. There are lots of winter clothing for sale at affordable prices,” said Alida Reed, chairperson of the local Helping Hand branch.

Alida emphasised that the shop will meet the standards of health protocols and provide social distancing measures for the public.

“No person will be allowed to enter the shop without a mask and we will sanitise people’s hands upon entry. Shoppers must all remain at least one metre from another while in store. There are markers on the floor that will help people to maintain a safe distance. The safety of our clients and staff members is important to us,” she added.

The shop is also welcoming donations from members of the community who have been cleaning their cupboards during the lockdown.

“We will appreciate second-hand items, like clothing, blankets and houseware, that are in a good, usable condition,” the chairperson explained.
