The Dawn Park police recently arrested a 32-year-old man for possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
According to Dawn Park police spokesperson, Const Nkemeleng Mabula, while the Dawn Park SAPS crime prevention team were patrolling around Rondebult Road they noticed a blue Mazda 3 parked next to a plot.
“When the police inquired about the vehicle through its VIN number it was discovered that it was a stolen motor vehicle. The vehicle was hijacked in De Deur in July 2015,” Mabula said.
The suspect was arrested and will appear at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
• Meanwhile, the Dawn Park police also arrested nine men, aged between 21 and 28, for attempted murder, assault with the intention to cause grievous bodily harm, malicious damage to property and possession of an unlicensed firearm on February 12.
It is alleged that the nine men assaulted a man from Somalia Park after accusing him of stealing their firearm.
Mabula said the complainant led the men to the person who supposedly stole the firearm in Mapleton.
The firearm was found at the friend’s place.
“Members of the community alerted the police when the men fired shots at the complainant when he was allegedly running away after seeing his friend being beaten up,” Mabula said.
