May Alli was recently appointed as the deputy principal of Woodlands International Senior College, and she is ready for the challenge.

Alli has over 20 years of extensive experience in the education sector, specifically in the high school and tertiary education space, including course development, programme implementation, facilitation, management and mentoring of staff.

The new deputy pointed out that she is looking forward to ensuring the school remains the number one choice for parents in the East Rand.

“My goal as the new deputy principal of Woodlands is to prepare our learners for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

“We have to ensure they are prepared to deal with the ambiguities of the 21st century. The college continues striving to meet the goal imposed by its motto – To Rise Above Mediocrity,” said Alli.

Furthermore, she is passionate about lifelong learning which allows her to acquire practical life skills.

“It keeps me up to date with industry changes and requirements. My hobbies include travelling and learning about new cultures, systems and processes,” she added.

During her extensive career as an educator, Alli noticed a few changes.

“Children became more confident since I started my career. They’re not as afraid to voice their opinions. They’re better informed in terms of career choices and knowing what they want to do with their lives.”
