EMPD’s round-up of accidents, arrests in Boksburg over the festive season

The EMPD reminds that the figures of accidents or crashes might differ, due to the fact that other law enforcers arrive first on scene and record details.

The EMPD has provided a round-up of accidents and arrests within the Boksburg area during the festive season.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, acting chief supt and EMPD spokesperson, between December 24 to January 6, three people died in accidents.

• On December 31 at 5.55pm, a female passenger died following a crash between two motor vehicles, on the corner of R554 and Trichardts road.

• On January 1 at 3.50am, a driver and a passenger were burnt beyond recognition when their sedan lost control and crashed into a tree on the corner of Hertzog Street and Lancaster Road.

The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Officers also arrested two suspects for possession of and dealing in narcotics.

• On December 24, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Officers arrested a 28-year-old woman on Stanbury Crescent, Reiger Park, after 23 Mandrax tablets valued at R2 300 were found in her possession.

• On the same day, a 32-year-old man was arrested in Commissioner Street following a body search. Officers uncovered nine ziplocks of khat and one ziplock of crystal meth valued at R2 100.

“We also had few roving roadblocks with stop-and-searches,” said Mokheseng.
