Enjoying the spotlight as newly crowned Mrs Johannesburg

She was also named Overall Mrs Photogenic.

Simoné Botha (29) is holding Boksburg’s name high as she was recently crowned Mrs Johannesburg 2020 at Serengeti Estates.

Botha, who is a top sales executive at Isuzu Truck Centre Midrand, said she feels overwhelmed and grateful for the opportunity to wear the Mrs Johannesburg crown.

“I honestly did not expect them to call out my name as Mrs Johannesburg. For me it wasn’t about winning anything.

“I entered this competition with the intention of making a difference in the community and to help others in need. I shed a tear and immediately thanked the Lord when they crowned me. To me it was a sign that he never left my side,” said the mother of two.

“To me this crown represents a platform where I can give back to the community. Mrs Johannesburg is a beauty pageant with a purpose and represents the ability to motivate each person who has a desire to make a difference.”

Simoné Botha is Mrs Johannesburg 2020.

She added that her title also allows her to be a role model for others.

“I had a difficult childhood as I lost my father at a young age and my mother left after his death. I want others to realise that it doesn’t matter where you come from, all that matters is where you are going.

“It’s always good to strive to be better than your past. It doesn’t define you.

Botha’s duties as the newly crowned Mrs Johannesburg include representing the Role Models Foundation by attending charity events, in quest of collecting donations in order to support the foundation’s projects.

“This foundation hosts philanthropic pageants across South Africa and uses funding and donated items to intervene in impoverished communities. Their projects specifically target abused women and senior citizens, some of the most vulnerable groups,” Botha added.

“As the title holder, I’m excited to assist the foundation in getting their new project, Camp Champs, off the ground. We’re creating a facility where less fortune children can go to discover themselves amid the chaos in their lives through camping.

“I honestly believe that this project can help many children. I wish I had a facility like Camp Champs to go to when I was a child.

“I plead to community members to join and support me on this journey by assisting me to make a significant and positive difference in the lives of those who need it. Even donating something small or giving up your time can make a big difference. Items such as non-perishable foods, clothing and toys are always needed.”

Anybody who is interested in donating items may contact Simoné on 065 950 3703.

Botha added that she couldn’t have done it without the support of her incredible husband, children, colleagues, friends and family.
