EMPD K9 Unit finds drugs stashed next to a Boksburg tavern

The drugs were stashed between two loose bricks.

Observant EMPD officers managed to seize drugs stashed close to a well-known tavern on Thirteenth Street in Boksburg on Friday.

According to Kobeli Mokheseng, EMPD media liaison officer, three men who were idling not far from the tavern at around 10am ran away when they saw the branded EMPD motor vehicle approaching.

“When the metro police officers from the K9 Unit, who were on routine patrol, noticed the strange activity, they stopped where the suspects were hanging around,” said Mokheseng.

“The sniffer dog, trained to locate narcotics, was summoned. Officers discovered a plastic package containing 39 ziplocks of crystal meth, eight ziplocks of khat, 11 mandrax tablets and one block of a drug known as rock estimated to be valued at R2400.

“The drugs were confiscated and handed over to members of the SAPS at the Boksburg north police station. The suspects disappeared without a trace.”
