Two Angelo residents found murdered

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two residents.

A body of an Angelo informal settlement woman, who was reportedly attacked by Sotho-speaking men on Friday night (August 30), was found in a nearby veld the following morning.

According to the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Const Ntsako Ledwaba, the deceased, identified as Nomawethu Lorraine Ndinga, was, along with her boyfriend, walking the streets of the area when a gang of men armed with knives confronted the couple and demanded money.

The robbers split into two groups and one group started to assault the boyfriend while the other was attacking the woman.

The man told the police he tried to fight hard to rescue his girlfriend, but he was eventually overpowered by the thugs and he escaped. He later went back to look for her and subsequently discovered that her body had been found in the nearby veld.

The body had two open wounds to the head. At this stage police can not confirm if she was sexually assaulted or not.

* In another killing in the informal settlement, police found a burnt body of a man on the ground of the Angelo Sport Ground on August 30.

Bloodstained stones and other objects were found next to the body and police suspect the man had fallen victim to mob justice.

Both bodies were taken to the Germiston state mortuary.

Police also reported that a man who suffered burns at a traffic light at the intersection of Elsburg and Archie roads died in hospital on September 1.

The man, identified as Manuel Carlos, was rushed to hospital for treatment by ambulance. It remains unclear as to how the man suffered the burns.
