Spice to play for the Valke u-20 Currie Cup team

Another goal for Spice is to play for the Green and Gold.

Kelebogile Lemotlo from Hoërskool Voortrekker, with the nickname Spice, has recently been chosen to play for the Valke u-20 Currie Cup team.

The news completely overwhelmed the youngster, who usually plays fly half or full back for the Boksburg Owls Rugby Club. Spice has a good kicking record and is also a top point scorer for the club.

Spice is excited to play for the Valke and will aim to play a basic game, like one of his idols, All Blacks stalwart Beauden Barrett.

“I’m looking forward to the season and I’m excited to represent the Valke. I can’t wait to get to know my teammates,” said Spice.

He added that he dreams of playing for the Stormers in the future.

“I was inspired to play for the Stormers by Damian Willemse. He’s an incredible player who didn’t have to wait to get selected for the team.

“I would like to play for any national team. It doesn’t matter if it’s for the Junior Boks, Blitz Boks or Springboks.”

He would also like to encourage aspiring rugby players.

“I would like to say to every rugby player who doesn’t feel good enough, you are. You just need to work hard and never give up.”

According to Voortrekker’s deputy principal, Gerhard Joubert, the school is proud of him.

“He has always been an exemplary person and player with good leadership skills. Rugby is his life and we wish him all the best,” said Joubert about Spice, who played for the school’s first team for three years.
