Video: Family needs donations after house catches fire
No casualties were recorded on scene because of the blaze. The cause of the fire is still a subject of investigation.
A family is now in need of donations following their house in Fourth Avenue, Boksburg North, being damaged due a fire.
William Ntladi, district manager media liaison for DEMS, confirmed the fire that broke out on Monday.
“The firefighters from Leon Ferreira Fire Station swiftly responded to the scene as per address given and arrived on scene seven minutes later. The crew responded with three vehicles, mainly a water tanker, major industrial pumper and an ambulance, in case there were casualties on scene,” said Ntladi.
“On arrival, the house was well alight. On assessment, it seemed as if the fire started from the lounge, spreading to the other rooms. Grey and black smoke was already protruding through the roof.”
He said active fire suppression was initiated immediately, using water from the fire engines while other firefighters established sustained supply from a hydrant.
“The flames were contained and extinguished without any further damage to the structure after the arrival of the firefighters.
