Woodlands goes all colourful for charity

The school held its first-ever colour run and farmer’s market, which brought families and friends together.

Woodlands International College celebrated Africa Day in style recently.

Showered with paint in different bright colours on their clothes and faces, participants took part in a 2.7km family run around the school.

Another popular attraction for the children on the day was the pony ride by Pony Play, which offered rides to the children around the school field.

According to the organiser, Audrey Matthews, the run was not only a fun event for the learners of the school, but it was also the college’s community engagement as some of the proceeds will be donated to three organisations.

“Each division of the college selected a charity to support with their donations.

“The pre-primary college chose to support Hanna Charity and Empowerment Foundation, the junior college chose Rottie Rescue South Africa and the senior college chose the Boksburg SPCA,” Matthews said.

Matthews said the event was a huge success as it attracted lots of participants who browsed the market stalls.

“We would like to thank everyone who came through to support us.

“We also would like to thank our sponsors of the day, Jaguar/Land Rover East Rand, whose vehicles made excellent backdrops in their exciting photo competition, and Jan L Jordaan Inc, who sponsored the school with sachets, for their generosity,” she said.
