Elderly man hospitalised following gas cylinder explosion
Investigations are underway to what led to gas cylinder exploding.
Netcare 911 responded to reports of an explosion at a house in Klippoortje AH in the afternoon of Saturday, February 16.
According to Shawn Herbst, media liaison officer Netcare Limited, reports from the scene indicate that an elderly man sustained serious burns to his entire body when a LPG cylinder exploded in a residential house.
“The patient was treated on scene and once stabilized was transported by ambulance in a critical condition to hospital for further treatment,” said Herbst.
He said fire and rescue services as well as the SAPS and provincial ambulance services were on scene.
