Listen: Tenza named BAC new chairman

Tenza replaces Amanda Harvey, who’s stepped down following a four-year tenure.

Athletics guru Benzi Tenza has been named as the new chairman of the Boksburg Athletics Club (BAC) during the club’s recently held AGM (annual general meeting).

Tenza, a staunch member of BAC, becomes the first black chairperson in the club’s long, decorated history.

Born and educated in Pietermaritzburg, the new BAC chair has been a member of the club for 12 years and boasts 14 Comrades Marathon appearances under his belt.

“It’s very important that I mention that no one owns the club, not even myself. It equally belongs to all its members,” said Tenza.

Professionally, he is a chief education specialist for inclusive education for Gauteng.

His primary role in his professional capacity is to monitor and support the implementation of special education by supporting districts and special schools in the province.
