A pur(fect) day for cats on show and owners alike

The winning cat received a sponsored hamper and a trophy.

The National Cat Society held its All Breeds Championship at the Boksburg Civic Centre at the weekend, where dozens of cats were on display.

Run by the cat society, the show is in its 21st year and, according to the society’s Audrey Kenny, the show grows every year.

The event, sponsored by Royal Canin, was attended by more than 200 cat lovers from Ekurhuleni and across the province.

Lorrain Kennard’s beautiful Bengal cat, Benberry Maverick, was crowned the winner. Benberry was born in Europe and later imported to South Africa.

Hundreds of people, including children, flocked to see the leopard cat, as well as the popular and rare cat breeds which were attracting all the attention.

A charity raffle was also held at the show and the winner is Marilyn Muller from Kensington with her Diamond Art Painting.

The organisation hosts two shows in Boksburg per year – at the beginning of March and August.

Anyone interested to exhibit their cats in next year’s shows may contact Audrey Kenny on 073 178 1107.
