Boksburg CIT sixth suspect in court for bail

The suspects are facing charges of robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of explosives, possession of prohibited firearms, possession of a fully automatic firearm, possession of semi-automatic firearms and 10 attempted murder counts.

Under heavy police guard, the sixth suspect in the Boksburg cash-in-transit heist has returned on July 27 to the Magistrate’s Court to make his formal bail.

The suspect, Thapelo Nchabeleng, was arrested last month and had made his first court appearance on June 18.

He and his co-accused were allegedly involved in the May 17 dramatic cash-in-transit heist next to the intersection of North Rand and Atlas roads, where a gang of about 10 suspects, driving in four vehicles, targeted two cash vans from G4S.

Different police units reacted and gave chase, which ended at the George Koch Hostel where the other five suspects were arrested.
