Recycle paper and glass at Freeway Park Primary

The Advertiser continues to receive queries from the public about the closure of the recycling depot at Flora Farm.

There is still no clarity regarding where to recycle following the closure of the recycling depot at Flora Farm.

Members of the public have, however, said they’ve been turned away at the gate when attempting to drop their recycling off at Flora Farm.
The nursery closed at the end of December.

Since then, a recycling depot is available at Freeway Park Primary School where you can recycle your paper and glass items,

Freeway Park Primary wants to win the Mpact recycling schools competition so they need the community’s help by just filling the bins with paper and glasses.

Principal Mary-Ann van Eeden said: “Help us care for our environment by recycling in our bins. Help us declare war on waste and win the battle to keep our environment litter free.”

The school is situated at 12 Elsenburg Road, Freeway Park.

* There is also a recycling depot at the gates of the Boksburg SPCA, in Railway Street, for glass and paper recycling.

This organisation does receive a small amount of money for the recycling when it is collected but SPCA manager Maggie Mudd said the mess the public make when dropping stuff off is very disheartening.

“We’d like to thank the public for making use of the facility and being responsible about recycling, but we urge residents to please only use the containers supplied and not just drop their recycling next to the containers.”
