Two people injured in N12 vehicle collision

Westbound peak time traffic on the freeway, between Boksburg and Benoni, came to a standstill after the collision.

Two people were inured on February 28 when the vehicles they were driving in – a panel van and a light motor vehicle – collided on the N12, near the Jet Park off-ramp.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, their paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the panel van lying on its roof at the bottom of the embankment, and the light motor vehicle was found parked on the side of the road a short distance away.

“Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a man, believed to be in his 50s, lying trapped inside the panel van.

“ER24 paramedics, along with fire services, used various rescue tools to free the man from the vehicle, an operation which last about one hour.

“Once freed, paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries which left him in a serious condition.

“The driver of the light motor vehicle, a woman, was found to have sustained only minor injuries.

“Both patients were treated for their injuries, and the seriously injured man provided with pain-relief medication, before they were transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment,” said Meiring.

The exact details surrounding this incident are not yet known but investigations continue.
