Three arrested, possibly linked to numerous violent crimes

Angelo is a hot bed of violence and crime

Boksburg police believe they are making inroads into the crime problem in Angelo informal settlement following the arrest of three men believed to be behind a number of the atrocities reported in the area.

Detective Sergeant Calvin Mphaphuli, along with colleagues, arrested the trio, aged between 19 and 25, during the early hours of the morning yesterday (January 31), while they were still asleep in their shacks in the informal settlement.

In one of the recent cases, the suspects allegedly forced opened the door of their targeted victim’s shack and stabbed the complainant multiple times before stealing R1 500.

They allegedly continued to stab him and ordered him to give them extra money. He told them that there was no more money and they then dragged him to his brother’s shack where they also allegedly forced opened the door and started stabbing the brother while demanding money.

They reportedly searched the brother but found nothing. Thereupon, the suspects allegedly took the two victims to a third shack where they also forced opened the door and entered the shack.

At that point, the two brothers managed to escape the hostage situation.

It is unclear what happened at the third shack.

Maseko said it is believed that the gang has been terrorising the community for a while now and investigators will check if they are linked to other cases in Angelo with the same modus operandi.-@MthuphaFanie
